DONNA ISHAM, Los Angeles-based fine artist, is recognized for her thought-provoking female-centric figuration along with her emotive abstract works that are all naked, raw, bold, and inspiring. Isham’s figurative abstract and expressionist paintings are created in oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastels, pencil, ink and pen. Humanistic values permeate her work, from the resilience and compassion of reconstructing the female form to the energy and passion reflected in her expressionist musings. She creates life out of imagery with her bold coloration and gestural mark making, layered paint application and poignant iconography. Emotion emanates from the canvases. She wants the viewer to FEEL the art.
Isham's paintings and works on paper explore life and beauty in its many forms, sensuality and the ephemeral suggesting the spiritual and ecstatic. Isham draws influence from her vast experience in the fashion, entertainment and music industries. Her paintings are part of private collections worldwide, exhibited at numerous galleries including New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris, France, Vienna (Austria), and Nantucket, theSt. Regis Hotel Summer Lodge (Aspen, CO.) Most recently she was featured as an arts educator with non profit children's organization, Art Of Elysium, in Los Angeles.
